Half-way between Pamplona and Estella-Lizarra is the town of Salinas de Oro, where you can discover the answers for yourself as it is home to the Gironés and Nuin Eraso salt flats, two of the few salt industries that produce salt from spring water. Here you will uncover all the secrets of its artisan and ancestral process of common salt extraction, a technique that dates all the way back to the Roman period.
Throughout the tour you discover what this mineral contributes, how it influences our health, how to use it for therapeutic purposes, etc. The finishing touch of the visit is a taste of the different salts.
The Gironés salt flats have been awarded the BIO quality certification by the Navarran Council of Ecological Agricultural Production, effective across the whole of Europe. This salt is ecological and healthy.
At the Nuin Eraso salt flats, about which written documents date back to 1492, foot baths in natural salt water can be enjoyed.
